Not sure if your app is already on Softonic? Search for it at softonic.com. If you find a listing, you can claim it using the steps below.
Not sure why it’s there in the first place? Read Why is my app on Softonic?
This guide explains how to link an existing Softonic listing to your Softonic Publishing Center account, including the three ways you can verify that you’re authorized to manage it.
If you register using the same email address you use for your app on an official app store, such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, Softonic may be able to match it automatically and verify your claim right away.
That said, this doesn’t happen for everyone — plenty of developers register with a different email, and that’s completely fine. If yours doesn’t match, verifying by email or by submitting supporting documentation works just as well; both are covered in Step 2.
How to claim your app
Step 1: Register for free to Softonic Publishing Center
If you don’t have an account yet:
- Choose your organization type — Company, Individual, or Other.
- Enter your Organization Name and Public Contact Email (adding your website URL is optional, yet helpful).
- Click Create Organization.
- Review the Terms of Use, check the box accepting the Terms and Conditions and the Application Distribution License, and click Continue.

Step 2: Find and claim your app
If your account email matches the email associated with the app, you can claim it automatically. If it doesn’t, you can verify your claim by email or through manual verification.
Verification method 1: Automatic detection (fast track)
Use this route when: you registered with the exact same email address already listed in the Softonic developers catalog.
- A window will automatically appear on your dashboard showing all the apps associated with this organization.
- Check the “Check licensing agreement” box and click Accept.
- Done! Your apps are now automatically linked to your account.

Verification method 2: Verify by email
Use this route when: your registration email doesn’t match the email in our database, but you have access to the developer email listed for the app.
- Click Claim App — either the link in the top-right header or the blue Claim App button in the “Need help?” card.
- Search and select your app or software from the list.
- Check the box to accept the Application Distribution License and click Continue.
- Select “Verify with email”, and check your inbox for the 6-digit verification code. Enter the code and click Validate to complete your claim.

Verification method 3: Manual verification
If you don’t have access to the email — or there isn’t one — choose “I don’t have access to this email”.
You’ll be asked to upload supporting documentation and a short explanation, and Softonic’s team reviews it manually. This path takes longer, since it involves a human review, and the team will follow up by email if anything else is needed.
You can upload up to 3 of the following documents:
- Legal Entity Verification — proof of your company’s legal registration (e.g. a Company Registration Certificate or Tax/VAT number).
- Authorization Letter — a signed company letter confirming you’re authorized to act on the company’s behalf.
- Store Dashboard Screenshot — a screenshot from your Google Play Console or App Store Connect account showing the app and your ownership of it.
- Payment Documentation — app store payments or invoices.
- Distribution Agreement — a license or distribution agreement, if relevant.
- Trademark Registration — proof of ownership of the app’s name or logo.
- Domain Ownership Record — a registration or WHOIS record for the app or brand’s official domain.
- Sworn Statement — a signed declaration of ownership.

FAQ
How do I claim an app on Softonic?
Create a Publishing Center account, find your app and start a claim, then verify you’re authorized to manage it — automatically, by email, or through manual review.
What is the quickest way to verify my app?
If your Softonic account email happens to match the one you use on an official app store, such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, verification is instant. It’s a nice shortcut when it applies, but plenty of developers verify just as easily through email or manual review.
What if I don’t have access to the relevant email?
You can still verify manually by submitting supporting documentation that proves you own or are authorized to manage the app. Softonic’s team reviews this by hand and follows up by email.
What documents can I use to verify ownership?
Depending on your situation: proof of your company’s legal registration, a signed authorization letter, a screenshot from your app store developer console, payment or invoice records, a distribution agreement, a trademark registration, a domain ownership record, or a signed statement of ownership. You’ll typically only need one or two.
